16cr heroin seized in Cachar, 2 held

Silchar: Heroin weighing around 2.2kg and worth about Rs 16 crore was seized at Katagachtala in the Sonai block of the Cachar district on Saturday. Two men have been apprehended in this connection.
Sources said acting on a tip-off, a police team, led by Cachar superintendent of police Numal Mahatto, conducted an operation at a house in Katagachtala, about 12km from Silchar town. The police seized 143 soap cases containing heroin.
The two arrested men have been identified as Hakimul Haque and Fajal Laskar.
Earlier on Friday, heroin worth Rs 10 crore was seized during a joint operation by the Cachar and Karimganj police. One person man was arrested from Chengkoorie Road.
