BENGALURU: A 55-year-old woman was killed and her husband sustained injuries after a speeding KSRTC bus knocked down their scooter at Anand Rao Circle's down ramp on Sunday afternoon.
The incident occurred at 3.05 pm when the two were on their way to an apparel shop in Gandhinagar for shopping. Their 19-year-old daughter following them on her electric scooter saw her mother being crushed to death under the wheels of the bus.
The victim is Latha, who worked in the accountant-general's office and resided at Hebbal Kempapura. Her husband Anantha Ramakrishna sustained minor injuries in the incident.
Police registered a case based on a complaint by Latha's daughter Shwetha against the bus driver.
Police said Ramakrishna wanted to take a right turn towards Gandhinagar at Freedom Park. So, he tried to ride towards the right side of the road. The speeding bus, on the other hand, was coming down the flyover and the driver, unable to control the vehicle, hit the scooter. Both Ramakrishna and Latha fell on the road, and she came under the bus wheels.
