UNDP’s Noda lauds India’s efforts on climate action, its financing on global platform

Hailing India’s efforts to bring focus on the issue of climate change, UNDP Resident Representative in India Shoko Noda on June 05 said that the country is shifting focus on the climate change issue and its financing on global platform so that more funds can come in for developing countries in the Global South. With the world celebrating World Environment Day, she also stressed the importance of toning down the use of plastics and reusing them instead. “There is a worrisome estimate that there will be more plastic in the ocean than the fish. It is very important to reverse the process of using so much plastic and dumping it in the water bodies. India’s presidency has come at a very critical point. It is good that India can not only represent itself but the whole Global South. India is also focusing on climate action and its financing so that more funding can come for the developing countries,” Noda said
