1 dead after motorcycle hits deer

A 54-year-old Brockway Township resident died late Saturday after the motorcycle he was driving hit a deer.

Jody Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene in the area of Yale and Arendt roads in Brockway Township, according to the St. Clair County Sheriff Department. Deputies and rescue crews were called to the crash shortly before 11 p.m.

A 51-year-old woman passenger from Brockway Township was taken to McLaren Lapeer hospital with serious injuries, according to the sheriff department.

The St. Clair County accident investigation team was called to the scene and the investigation is ongoing.  Yale police, Tri-Hospital EMS and Brockway Township fire assisted at the scene.
