Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou is close to being appointed Antonio Conte's successor at Tottenham Hotspur.

With the Australian now tipped to move south of the border, WhoScored.com have picked out three of his current players who could follow him to London this summer.

Matt O'Riley

What was clear last season is that Tottenham lacked a player to link the midfield and attack, particularly after Rodrigo Bentancur's season-ending knee injury in February.

Spurs have been linked with a move for Leicester's James Maddison in order to help in the final third, but they do run the risk of being priced out of a move by Newcastle.

The Magpies have the added advantage of being able to offer the Foxes creator Champions League football next season.

To be fair, the same applies to Celtic and Matt O'Riley, but the 22-year-old may be convinced to join the Australian at Spurs.

He registered more assists (12) than any other player in the Scottish Premiership last season, while 81 key passes and 16 big chances created ranked second and first, respectively, in Scotland's top tier.

For a Spurs side that looked a little off the pace in the final third, O'Riley can shine off the ball too.

Only Motherwell's Kevin van Veen (36) won possession in the attacking third more times than the former MK Dons man (30) in the 2022/23 Scottish Premiership campaign, with O'Riley potentially the man to rejuvante Spurs' floundering frontline.

Jota

Jota was the only player to register double figures for both goals (11) and assists (11) in the Scottish Premiership last season with the Portuguese winger making a sustained impact following his 2021 arrival from Benfica.

The 24-year-old has cemented his reputation as a fan favourite having played a key role in back-to-back Scottish Premiership triumphs.

Spurs at times lacked a player to get bums-off-seats having ranked 12th for successful dribbles per game (8) in the Premier League last season, that return level with relegation-threatened Everton, but is a quality that Jota could bring to north London.

His 48 successful dribbles was the eigth most in the 2022/23 Scottish Premier League season to reinforce a statistically calculated WhoScored.com strength of 'dribbling'.

In addition, 62 key passes was the seventh most in the division, with Jota boasting the ability to not only ghost past an opponent, but pick out a teammate too.

Spurs won't be making Arnaut Danjuma's loan move permanent this summer, so will need to add another body to help beef out their attack, and Jota could be ideal, particularly if he is able to transfer his Scottish Premiership form to the Premier League.

Kyogo Furuhashi

Ultimately, this may depend on whether Harry Kane leaves Tottenham this summer. Linked with moves to Manchester United and Real Madrid, Kane is a man in demand having scored 30 league goals last season, an impressive feat in this Spurs side.

However, now in the final year of his current deal at Spurs, the 29-year-old is expected to leave no later than next summer, and the club need to start planning for life without the England captain.

One who Spurs could look to is Celtic hitman Kyogo Furuhashi. The Japanese star scored more goals (27) than any other player in the Scottish Premiership last season, and showed remarkable consistency when presented with the chance to score.

Of the 74 players to manage 25 or more shots, Furuhashi returned the best conversion rate (30.7 per cent) in the division to reinforce a WhoScored.com strength of 'finishing'.

At 28 years of age, Furuhashi won't be wanting to play second fiddle, but as a Kane successor, the Celtic goal machine could be a good fit.

Both strikers are different profiles, and it would mean Spurs have to tinker with the way they play in order to accomodate the former, yet if the opportunities are created for Furuhashi, there's a good chance he'll put the ball in the back of the net.

O'Riley to Furuhashi and Jota to Furuhashi were, after all, the joint-best assist-to-goalscorer returns in the Scottish Premiership last season, partnerships that yielded four goals each.
