COIMBATORE: Police on Sunday arrested a 54-year-old man for sexually harassing his daughter under the influence of alcohol.
Police said the accused who works in a lathe workshop is an alcoholic and also addicted to ganja, adding he used to frequently quarrel with his wife. Around 9.30 pm on June 1, he misbehaved with his 19-year-old daughter. The girl, a student at a private college in the city, informed her mother about the incident, following which the woman confronted her husband.
When questioned, the man fought with his wife and daughter and verbally abused them before attempting to assault them with a knife. He also damaged household articles and threatened his daughter. The Podanur police registered a case against the man under sections 354, 427, 506 (ii) of the Indian Penal Code and section 4 of the
Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women (TNPHW) Act, based on his daughter’s complaint and arrested him.
