Gang of thieves busted, stolen goods seized

Kanpur: The Naubasta police and the surveillance team of South Zone arrested five members of the gang of thieves, including a woman, involved in eight incidents of theft in the city.
Stolen goods worth several lakhs of rupees have been recovered from their possession. The arrested thieves have been identified as Rajesh Nigam, his wife Sandhya Nigam, Sandeep Nigam, Ankit Nigam and Ved Prakash Sharma, all residents of Bidhnu area of the district.
During interrogation, the thieves confessed they used bicycles to do a recce of colonies and localities so that no one suspected them. “Thereafter, they would come to their identified target at night and easily break open the lock of the house and steal valuables,” said inspector Sanjay Kumar Pandey, who headed the operation.
