Gumla admin takes up devpt schemes for PVTG communities
Gumla: The district administration would soon roll out the developmental schemes to uplift the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTG) dominated areas and streamline the local panchayat raj system for effective implementation of the schemes.
Gumla deputy development commissioner (DDC) Hemant Sati on Wednesday visited the remote locations at Netarhat plateau and met the residents who belong to the Asur tribe community.
Speaking to TOI on Saturday, Sati said, “I met the residents of Ghadhatoli and Bechnapat areas falling under Janawal panchayat in Chainpur block and Sanaitangar under Ghaghra block. The people demanded road connectivity, water, replacement of a burnt transformer, a community centre, a check dam for irrigation, and better health care to ensure institutional birth amenities for the pregnant women.”
“I have directed the engineers of the drinking water and sanitation department to execute the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) projects in those areas on a priority basis. The officials of the other departments concerned have been asked to prepare the estimates for building roads, a check dam, and a community centre,” he added.
The women residents of Sanaitangar said they faced difficulties during pregnancy as the community health centre (CHC) in Chainpur is located far away from their area.
DDC Sati told them that he has asked the engineers to urgently renovate the government building at Sanaitangar to set up an additional institutional delivery centre.
Panchayat head Priyanka Asur demanded livelihood measures for the people living in this difficult terrain. “I have asked the block development officer (BDO) to prepare a project for potatoes, pears, and millet cultivation besides a goat rearing project to ensure sustainable livelihood for the residents belonging to the PVTG community,” Sati said.
