Shivneri e-bus rakes in Rs 2 cr in one month

MUMBAI: The Shivneri electric buses have earned over Rs2 crore in revenue in a month by ferrying 50,000 passengers between Mumbai and Pune in noiseless, comfortable, AC e-buses, an official said.
The MSRTC has started 26 e-buses, including 14 from Thane and 12 from Dadar. There are plans to induct 74 more in a month. MSRTC's diesel expenses per day is Rs 8.8 crore daily which comprises 38% of the total expenditure for running the fleet.
The new e-buses will help reduce the diesel burden on state transport corporations , a senior official said.While Rs1.5 crore revenue was earned from buses leaving Thane depot for Pune, rest was from Dadar Shivneri bus stand, official said.
