AYODHYA: Ten days after the death of the class 10 girl student after 'falling' from the terrace of her school in Ayodhya, police on Sunday claimed that she had committed suicide. Ruling out gangrape and murder, police have arrested a minor male school student for abetment to suicide and the school manager for allegedly causing disappearance of evidence. Ayodhya police on Sunday arrested the school manager and a minor student and sent them to jail. The remand magistrate allowed 14 days in judicial custody for both of them. The minor student has been sent to the juvenile home.
On May 26, the girl student of the private school had died of severe injuries in a hospital after she had fallen from the roof of the school building. The 15-year-old girl's family had alleged that she was gangraped by two teachers of the school and later thrown from the terrace of the school building.
The incident was caught on the school CCTV camera. On the basis of the complaint by the girl's family, the school's owner, principal and sports teachers were booked for gangrape, murder, criminal conspiracy and destruction of evidence besides under provisions of the Pocso Act.
Ayodhya additional superintendent of police Madhuvan Singh told reporters that during the probe by the SIT, it was found that the rape and murder charges were not corroborating with the evidence.
"We have ruled out rape and murder. The medico-legal experts and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) findings have ruled out rape and murder and state that the girl fell from the terrace with the intention to commit suicide," he said.
Police said that based on the investigation, we have booked the school manager under IPC's sections 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence). A minor boy, who is 15 years and a student of the same school, has been booked under IPC's section 305 (abetment to suicide).
Singh added, "We haven't given anyone a clean chit yet. The probe is on and we are working on the case every day. Depending on the findings, we will release other details."
In the FIR, the parents of the 15-year-old girl had claimed that they got a call from the school principal asking them to come over. Later, the school authorities informed the parents that the minor had fallen off a swing and had been critically injured and admitted to the hospital. When the family reached the hospital, they found her dead. Later, the CCTV footage emerged in which the girl was caught falling from the school terrace.
