Manipur Unrest: Suspected Militants torch 100 houses in Manipur's Serou yillage, ethnic clashes escalate

Suspected militants set fire to approximately 100 houses in Serou village, located in Manipur's Kakching district. Concurrently, intense firing exchanges occurred between militant groups and security forces in other parts of the district, according to officials. In addition to the arson attacks, a mob vandalized the residence of Congress MLA K Ranjit Singh in Serou. Fortunately, Singh and his family managed to escape unharmed. Although the exact number of affected houses was not specified, authorities noted that the homes had been abandoned as the residents had relocated to government camps. The state has been plagued by ethnic violence between the Meitei and Kuki communities since May 3.
