Spl Bhadrak-Chennai train ferries stranded
Bhubaneswar: Five members of Atal Behari’s family, a native of Patna in Bihar, were part of the Bhadrak-Chennai special train run by the railways on Sunday to help stranded passengers of accident-hit Coromandel Express.
Atal, 40, his wife Savitri along with their three kids were going to Vellore for treatment of their daughter. “We heard that the railways is running a special train to Chennai on Sunday, we came to Bhadrak and boarded the train,” he said. The train (13683) departed from Bhadrak around 1.30pm on Sunday. It left Bhubaneswar at 4.46pm.
Saroj Kumar Jena, who had booked a ticket on Coromandel Express on Friday from Bhadrak. “On Sunday, I boarded the special train to go to Chennai,” he added.
Indian Railways ran another special train from Chennai to Bhadrak for those whose kin are stranded. This train (02840) reached Bhubaneswar at 3.30pm. A help desk near platform 1 of Bhubaneswar station helped people with queries.
