Govt arranges tickets for 32 members of volleyball teams
Mysuru: The state government has arranged flight tickets to 32 members of Karnataka sub-junior volleyball teams who are stuck in Howrah railway station following the Odisha train tragedy. The state sub-junior volleyball boys and girls teams participated in the 45th national sub-junior competition held at Howrah between May 27 and June 1. They were supposed to return in a train. Eight students from Mysuru district were also part of the state teams.
As the train from Howrah to Bengaluru was cancelled due to Friday night’s accident, 32 state team members are still in Howrah.
According to team coach Dharmapura Mahadeva Swamy, when he brought the situation to the notice of former MLA HP Manjunath, he spoke to chief minister Siddaramaiah and labour minister Santosh S Lad. “Now the state government informed that flight tickets are being arranged for all from Kolkata to Bengaluru. We will reach Kolkata now,” he said.
