Another teacher caught for mother-daughter murder in Delhi's Krishna Nagar
The English teacher was aware of where the valuables were kept
NEW DELHI: Delhi Police arrested the second suspect, also a teacher, in the murder of a 64-year-old woman and her 34-year old daughter in Krishna Nagar in east Delhi on Saturday. Police sources said the man was caught on returning to Delhi from Uttar Pradesh.
"The documentation is under way. He will then be interrogated," the source said. The cops had arrested the first suspect on Friday. The cops think the men, one a music teacher, the other an English tutor, are cousins, but haven't confirmed this yet.
Investigations have revealed that Ankit Singh Rajput, the music teacher, reached the capital just 24 hours before the crime. He was arrested on Friday. The prime accused Kishan, an English tutor, who was arrested on Saturday, had informed his accomplice that they could easily rob Rs 50 lakh to Rs 1 crore from the women's house.
Sources said that Kishan, who tutored the woman's autistic daughter, knew well the layout of the house and also where the money and valuables were kept. Sources said police are also finding out whether he had come to know that Rajrani, the widowed house owner, was selling the Krishna Nagar flat worth Rs 1.7 crore. "Kishan had become friendly with Ginni, the daughter, and he got her to divulge information about her family and the properties it owned," a source said.
Kishan assumed the women were wealthy after observing how delivery boys regularly came to the house and how the mother-daughter owned expensive phones.
According to police, Rajrani was planning to tell her Krishna Nagar flat and shift to a flat in Nehru Place, for which she had reportedly paid an advance too. "There is a possibility that Kishan learnt about the deal and might have thought that since the deal was done, the woman had money in the house," an officer said.
The men began planning the murder a few weeks ago and were constantly in touch on the phone. "On May 24, Rajput, a music teacher in Assam, came to Delhi. Rajput runs a music band in Assam, but he was not earning much, and so he joined hands with Kishan," a police source said. The murders took place on May 25, but the bodies of the women were discovered only on May 31. The cops are also probing whether any third person was involved in the killings.
