Radio reviews: In 50 years’ time, Solid Gold Sunday will probably have a similar playlist to the one we heard last week

If we’re talking about the most perfect piece of radio last week, we’d have to be talking about Solid Gold Sunday (East Coast FM, Sundays, 10am) with Jim O’Neill on East Coast FM. The show itself is easily described, consisting as it does of the great records of the 1960s, ’70s, ’80s and ’90s, presented by the solid gold voice of O’Neill – an RTÉ 2 disc-jockey in ancient times, famed for his Drivetime association with the popular character ‘Thing’.
