SHIVAMOGGA: Primary and secondary education minister Madhu Bangarappa was given a rousing welcome on his arrival to his hometown Shivamogga after assuming office on Saturday. District Congress welcomed him at MRS Circle and the youth Congress took him on a bike rally. Madhu is the third person from the Bangarappa family to become a minister. His father was a CM, and his brother Kumar Bangarappa was a minister.
Speaking to the media Madhu said that the government will definitely revive the school textbooks and expressed doubts about doing it in the current year. However, we can withhold a few "controversial" chapters after having a discussion with them. CM Siddaramaiah too is discussing with scholars and experts, including Baraguru Ramachandra, the minister claimed.
Teachers' problems are common and the government should take steps to address their grievances. Their transfer process has been initiated. "I was fortunate to get a primary and secondary education portfolio. Now I have a greater responsibility of providing good and quality education to children," Madhu said.
Madhu Bangarappa said BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel is an unsuccessful leader and I will not answer his queries on five guarantees of Congress. "If Kateel is a responsible leader he should react to PM Narendra Modi's promise of bringing back black money from foreign banks and his supposed promise of depositing Rs 15 lakh rupees into an individual's account," he said.
In a welcome programme, former education minister Kimmane Ratnakar wished that Madhu should become CM like his father late S Bangarappa.
