Mercury rises, but MeT issues orange alert for rainfall today
Jaipur: After a prolonged spell of rain and dust storms across the state, the mercury rose on Saturday and the weather mainly remained dry in the state, though humidity levels increased along with the minimum and maximum temperatures.
Kota was the hottest in the state with a maximum temperature of 40.9°C, the Met office said.
However, for Sunday the Met office issued an orange alert and forecast gusty winds and rainfall. Districts including Jaipur, Sikar, Tonk, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Pali Ajmer, Bhiilwara, Chittorgarh and Banswara are likely to get gusty winds having a speed of 60 to 70 km/hour along with rainfall, the Met office said.
On Saturday, people in Jaipur woke up to a comparatively warmer morning as a minimum temperature of 27°C was recorded. It was followed by a sultry afternoon with a maximum temperature of 37.8°C and humidity level of 80%. Though mild cloud cover was seen around Jaipur, no rainfall took place neither in Jaipur city nor on its outskirts. For Sunday, the Jaipur Met office has forecast for mild showers and gusty winds in and around Jaipur.
Kota was followed by Barmer where a maximum temperature of 40.8°C was recorded, Chittorgarh with 40.1°C, Bhilwara 40°C, Jaisalmer 39.9°C, Jalore 39.6°C, Phalodi 38.6°C, Udaipur 38.4°C, Churu 38.2°C and Jodhpur 37.9°C.
The Met office stated that a fresh spell of western disturbances and anti-cyclonic circulation is seen approaching the state.
