The accused is
Ramesh Kumar, 30, attached with Begur police station, while the victim has been identified as V Shilpa, 29. Shilpa's father Venkata Rayappa filed a complaint with Begur police accusing his son-in-law of murdering Shilpa over an issue of domestic violence. According to Rayappa, Ramesh and Priya got married around 11 months ago and lived in a rented house in Begur. Shilpa hailed from Chintamani in Kolar district. According to police sources, Ramesh and Shilpa were in love and their families had opposed the marriage.

"According to Ramesh, he returned home from an investigation on Saturday morning and, after opening the door with a duplicate key, found Shilpa hanging from the ceiling fan of the bedroom. Later, he informed the jurisdictional police, his family members and in-laws. Shilpa's father filed the complaint, accusing Ramesh of murdering her. We have registered a murder case against Ramesh," a senior police officer said, adding that Ramesh has been detained for questioning.
DCP (southeast) CK Baba said: "We have booked a murder case against the accused under IPC sections 302 (murder) and 304B (dowry death). The probe will be carried out by an ACP-rank officer."
