Vadodara: MS University will appoint environment nodal officers in each of the 18 faculties functioning under the umbrella of the university. With the support of students, these environment nodal officers, in turn, will create an ‘environment army’ whose target will be to make the university campus greener.
The university will carry out this special campaign to create awareness on environment and climate change to mark World Environment Day that falls on Monday.
It is worth mentioning here that the university’s main campus and 11 other satellite campuses spread across 272 acres of land are home to nearly 3,489 trees with diversity of 277 types of tree species.
MSU vice-chancellor professor Vijaykumar Srivastava recently held a meeting with teachers of botany and environment science departments to create awareness on environment in generation next.
While the university will be organizing a series of events to mark the World Environment Day, as an outreach programme, it will also organize an online quiz for school students.
The online quiz on environment will be organized for students of Classes 10 to 12 at 10.30am on Monday for which the school students will have to register themselves.
Students who score 50% and above in this online quiz will be provided an e-certificate which will be emailed to them by the university.
