    Woman ends life after killing children, says Rajasthan Police

    A woman hanged herself to death after allegedly killing her four children in the Mandali area of Rajasthan's Barmer district, police said on Sunday. According to the police, the woman first put her four children in a grain drum and closed its lid before ending her life on Saturday evening. DSP Kamlesh Kumar said the deceased have been identified as Urmila (27), of Baniyawas village, and four children Bhavna (8), Vikram (5), Vimla (3) and Manisha (2). Her husband Jetharam had gone to Jodhpur for work when the incident occurred. Police said all five bodies have been kept in a mortuary for post-mortem.

    FPIs investment hit 9-month high at Rs 43,838 cr in May

    Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) pumped in Rs 43,838 crore in Indian equities in May, the highest level in nine months, supported by strong macroeconomic fundamentals, and reasonable valuations. FPIs continued the buying stance in June too, and invested Rs 6,490 crore in just two trading sessions of the month, data with the repositories showed. According to the data, FPIs invested a net sum of Rs 43,838 crore in the Indian equities in the entire month of May.

    Ashok Gehlot attacks Union Minister Shekhawat for water woes in Rajasthan

    Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has slammed Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on the issue of water shortage in the state. "Jodhpur MP Shekhawat is the Union Jal Shakti minister. In spite of that the people of his home constituency have been suffering and he is not worried at all", Gehlot said in his public address in Barmer. Earlier, the Centre used to provide 90 per cent funds for water projects, which have now been reduced to half, he claimed.

    Kerala: Two teens missing from Kozhikode beach

    Two teenagers went missing from Kozhikode beach after going into the sea to retrieve their ball which had gone into the waters while playing there, police said. The incident occurred between 7.30-8.00 AM, they said. A group of teenagers were playing at the beach when their ball went into the sea and some of them went into the water to retrieve it. However, they apparently got caught in the undercurrents and were pulled into the sea. While others present there were able to pull one of them to safety, the remaining two -- aged 15 years and 16 years -- were swept away, the a police officer said.

    The Delhi High Court is scheduled to pass an order on former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia's interim bail plea citing medical grounds for his wife's health. The bench of Justice Dinesh Kumar Sharma on Saturday after noting down the submissions held during the special hearing, kept the order reserved while seeking a fresh medical report from LNJP hospital where Sisodia's wife was admitted on Saturday morning. ED's Counsel Zohaib Hossain on Saturday submitted a report in relation to Sisodia's wife's medical issue and opposed his interim bail plea.

    Clashes near Bakhmut continue despite easing, Ukraine's military says

    Despite a recent easing of combat in Bakhmut, clashes around the obliterated city in eastern Ukraine continue with Moscow suffering significant losses, Kyiv's armed forces said. Ukraine's top military command said in its daily report on Sunday that Russian forced had carried out two unsuccessful operations around Bakhmut and launched a number of air strikes and artillery shelling on nearby villages.

    Police have registered a case against a 42-year-old woman for allegedly killing her husband in Maharashtra's Palghar district, an official said on Sunday. The couple, residing in Dabheri village, had frequent fights over domestic issues and the 47-year-old man used to harass his wife, Jawhar's police station's senior police inspector Sudhir Sankhe told PTI.

    J&K: Pilgrims receive special vaccination before leaving for Hajj

    With an aim to make the Hajj pilgrimage hassle-free and sans Covid-19 cases, a special vaccination drive was held in Srinagar for pilgrims before departing to Mecca for the annual Hajj pilgrimage. According to officials, the vaccination process was on in full swing in all districts of Kashmir Valley to safeguard pilgrims from any form of infection. As per the guidelines of the Indian government, vaccination for pilgrims is very important for the safety of pilgrims from Covid-19 across the world, officials said.     China's military rebuked the United States and Canada for "deliberately provoking risk" after the countries' navies staged a rare joint sailing through the sensitive Taiwan Strait.The U.S. Navy's 7th Fleet said the guided-missile destroyer USS Chung-Hoon and Canada's HMCS Montreal conducted a "routine" transit of the strait on Saturday "through waters where high-seas freedoms of navigation and overflight apply in accordance with international law".     Gujarat: 2-yr-old girl who fell into borewell dies, body recovered

    A two-year-old girl, who slipped into a narrow borewell in Gujarat's Jamnagar district and got stuck at a depth of 20-feet, has died despite hectic rescue efforts by multiple agencies for 19 hours, an official said on Sunday. The toddler, belonging to a tribal family working as labourers on a farm at Tamachan village, some 40 km from Jamnagar city, fell into the nearly 200-feet-deep borewell in an agricultural field while playing at around 9.30 am on Saturday. A massive operation involving the Army, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and local fire personnel was launched to rescue the girl.
