ACB not investigating corrupt officers: Joshi
Jaipur: State BJP president C P Joshi accused chief minister Gehlot and the state government of not addressing the increasing corruption cases in Jaipur. Joshi alleged that he was concerned that the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) was not investigating corrupt officers properly and criticized the Chief Minister for going against his own promise of having no tolerance for corruption.
Joshi pointed out that even though more than 500 corruption cases had been reported to the ACB, most of them were still waiting for approval to take legal action against the accused. "Only a few cases were given permission to proceed, while some were outrightly rejected. This made corrupt officers and employees feel like they could get away with their actions because the law-and-order situation was weak," he said.
The BJP State President questioned whether the Chief Minister had control over the officers, as there seemed to be a delay in taking action against those caught accepting bribes. He raised concerns about whether the Chief Minister was intentionally avoiding punishing corrupt individuals.
Joshi emphasized the need for a full-time Director General (DG) for the ACB, someone who could provide strong leadership to fight corruption effectively. He urged Chief Minister Gehlot to take immediate and decisive action against corruption, restore trust in the law and administration, and strengthen the ACB by appointing a dedicated and capable Director General.
