Amreli history-sheeter kills blind man for refusing sex

RAJKOT: Investigation into the death of a 20-year-old blind man in Bagasra town of Amreli district revealed that he was murdered allegedly by a history sheeter for refusing sex. Police on Friday arrested Mukesh Charola (35) for the murder of Prakash Rathwa, a resident of Kol village in Chhota Udepur district. Police said that Charola wanted to have unnatural sex with Rathwa but after he refused, Charola allegedly banged Rathwa’s head on a stone and fled the spot. The body of Rathwa, who bled to death, was found in the bushes near Bagasra bypass road on May 31, the police said.
According to Amreli police, separate teams were formed to investigate the case. While scanning through CCTV footage, cops saw Charola talking to Rathwa in one of the video clips.
Charola was brought in for questioning and during interrogation, he confessed of meeting Rathwa at the Bagasra bus depot. Rathwa told Charola that he wanted to go to Amreli and the latter offered to take him to ITI from where he would get a bus for Amreli.
Charola took Rathwa in an autorickshaw to Hamapur. There the accused told Rathwa that he wanted to have unnatural sex with him.
After Rathwa refused, there was an altercation between the two. Charola then banged Rathwa’s head on a stone and fled from the spot, said the police.
Based on the confession by Charola, he was booked for murder. Since Charola also stole Rathwa’s mobile phone he was also booked for theft and assault.
