LUCKNOW: Brace for another spell of hot weather in the state, including Lucknow, as mercury levels will rise above 40 degrees Celsius again this week.
“In the absence of meteorological factors at present that could cause dust/thunderstorms for at least a week, the weather will remain dry leading to gradual rise in maximum temperatures by 3-5 degrees Celsius during the next five days. However, there will be no significant change in the minimum temperatures,” said Mohammad Danish, senior scientist at the state met department.
Temperatures will go beyond 40 degrees Celsius in most parts of the state and a heat wave — maximum temperature 4-5 degrees above normal — is expected in the southeast UP and Bundelkhand region including Prayagraj, Banda and Jhansi, he added.
The maximum temperature in Lucknow was 38.8 degrees Celsius, -1.4 units below normal, on Saturday. It will gradually rise to 42 degrees Celsius by Thursday-Friday. The minimum temperature was 26.5 degrees Celsius, 0.3 unit above normal. It is likely to hover between 26-27 degrees Celsius this week.
According to the weather office forecast, sky will be mainly clear in Lucknow on Sunday, with maximum and minimum temperatures expected to be around 40 and 27 degrees Celsius, respectively.
