A deafening silence engulfed the bogie for a few seconds after a thundering sound and smoke, but Sita Das (45) from Biharwas quick to understand what had happened. She threw her two minor daughters and a son out of the window into the agriculture field that lay on both sides of the rail tracks. “For the first few minutes, I thought even if I did not survive, people would save my children. I was not too far from the place where my husband was trapped,” narrated Sita.
Sita and her husband survived with minor injuries. The couple was also reunited with their children. The family were going to Chennai, where her husband Nandu Das works as a plumber.
