PATNA: Patliputra University (PPU) has received a total of 75,010 online applications for admission to the newly introduced four years under graduate (UG) choice based credit system (CBCS) course for the academic session 2023-27 so far.
Out of these online applications, at least 65,380 students have paid online fee on the university portal as required for each student during submission of online admission forms.
According to PPU’s dean of students’ welfare (DSW) Prof A K Nag, the university, which has started accepting online admission forms from May 22, will accept the forms till June 7 on the university portal. PPU VC Prof R K Singh is personally monitoring the entire admission process as the university is committed to start the new academic session from July 4. It will admit 1.2 lakh students in 69 constituent and affiliated colleges at the UG courses, he said. The university will announce its first merit list on June 9 followed by second list on June 19 and third on June 27 while it will subsequently hold ‘spot admission’ for all those colleges where seats remain vacant, Nag said.
The university has released new syllabus for the CBCS courses. The newly introduced four years’ CBCS UG course will have total eight semesters with total 160 credits. Each year, two semesters will be held for the students. As per the new guidelines, at least 10 hours are specified for ‘teacher-student’ participation in scoring one credit, Nag said, adding the new rules specify 80 credits in major subjects, 32 in minor subjects, 9 each in multi-disciplinary and skill development, 8 in ability enhancement, 6 in value added, 4 in internship and 12 in research projects, the DSW said.
