Surat: The crime branch of the city police has arrested a 62-year-old man from Bhuj in connection with 10-year-old cheating case. Mahesh Mange (Bhanushali), along his wife, had cheated people to the tune of Rs 1.7 crore in Sachin GIDC area in 2013.
A case was registered at Sachin GIDC police station in 2013. When the crime branch started a drive to solve old cases registered in the city, police came to know that Mahesh was living in Bhuj.
According to police, Mahesh lived in Laxmivila Township in Sachin GIDC 10 years ago. He and his wife Daksha started Ashapura Enterprises and Money Lenders Finance firm. Complainant Sukharam Dukiya and members of his society gave money to Mahesh after he lured them with good returns but he vanished. “After leaving Surat, they lived in Goa, Mumbai, Junagadh, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Ahmedabad and Morbi before coming to Bhuj. We got information that Mahesh was working in a hotel in Bhuj. His wife has died,” said police. tnn
