Soon, submit plaint, CMO to call back with solution
During ‘Hello Goemkara’, a special live phone-in programme in which the CM interacts with citizens, members of the public raised many issues
PANAJI: Chief minister Pramod Sawant said on Friday that soon, the general public would be able to submit complaints before any mamlatdar or deputy collector, and the chief minister’s office will call the complainants and inform them how the issue will be resolved.
Sawant made the announcement during ‘Hello Goemkara’, a special live phone-in programme organised by Doordarshan. He said that he would interact with the people of the state once a month through the programme, and that various issues presented to him would be resolved by the government.
During the programme, members of the public raised a plethora of issues, including water shortage, employment only for Sattari residents in government departments, reservation for the OBC community in medical colleges, digging of roads, and jobs for locals in the mining sector.
Sawant also said that the state would launch a ‘CM helpline’ for the people.
The CM said that the state government will consider “extending the time limit” for people whose cases are in consumer court, so that they can complete the process of getting ownership of land or flats. A Vasco resident asked the CM to extend the limit, which is currently three months.
Another resident said that over the past six months, they have been facing water shortages. Sawant said there is no water shortage across the state except in Bardez, and that it will be resolved soon.
The CM also said that all issues related to OBCs will be resolved soon. “We will fill all pending vacancies reserved for OBCs,” Sawant said.
Responding to a young caller’s question as to why most jobs are given to the people of Sattari, Sawant said that in future, all vacancies will be filled through the Goa staff selection commission and Goa public service commission.
The chief minister said that the state government provides up to Rs 3 lakh to construct a house. He was replying to a person from Sanguem who asked him how he can own a house, and that he has to live in rented premises.
Sawant said that the state government will again launch a 20-point programme so that “needy people” are provided houses. The chief minister said ministers will meet the public through ‘mantri tumchya dari’ to resolve the issue.
The CM also said that the committee that was constituted to study the destroyed religious structures during the Portuguese regime has prepared a report, which will be made available to the public soon. “We will construct a temple for all temples that were destroyed during the Portuguese regime,” he said.
