TRICHY: District police on Thursday booked a manager and 15 employees of a private bank on charges of forcefully obtaining a vehicle and 18,000 from a customer who holds a loan account with their bank.
The police have registered cases of rioting, wrongful restraint, and theft under the sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) based on a complaint filed by S Pandiyarajan, a 42-year-old resident of Pallividai in Madakudi near Lalgudi, Trichy.
According to the police, Pandiyarajan had taken a loan from the private bank to purchase a truck. Although he had purchased the vehicle, he failed to repay the loan.
Pandiyarajan stated in his complaint that on April 26, 2023, he was waiting near BT complex at Thalakudi in Trichy when the manager of the private bank and 15 other individuals arrived. They unlawfully took possession of the vehicle and the 18,000 in cash that Pandiyarajan had kept inside it.
Acting upon Pandiyarajan's complaint, the police registered a cas and further investigations are on.
