PM Modi to visit train accident spot in Odisha today, meet injured in Cuttack hospital

On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to Odisha in response to the devastating rail tragedy that claimed the lives of 238 people, according to reports.

He will proceed to the accident scene in Balasore before going to the hospital in Cuttack, according to what they said. In order to examine the situation in relation to the rail tragedy, PM Modi has also called a meeting.

At Bahanaga Bazar Station in Balasore district, the Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express, the Coromandel Express, and the freight train were involved in a three-way accident on three different tracks.

The catastrophe that occurred on Friday night resulted in the derailment and significant damage of 17 passenger train cars.

According to the preliminary report by the State Emergency Operation Center, around 900 people are injured.

Seven National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) Teams, five Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) Units and 24 Fire Services and Emergency Units engaged in rescue operations.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) deployed Mi-17 helicopters for the evacuation of the deceased and injured.

According to the Eastern Command, IAF is coordinating the rescue efforts with the civil administration and Indian Railways. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also visited the accident site to take stock of the situation.
