Casemiro is full of confidence that Manchester United will have a successful transfer window.
“When top-class players come in, quality players, it’s always welcome,” Casemiro told the Daily Mirror.
“We always want quality players and it’s always the case that the more options you have, it’s important to have as much quality in the squad as you can. But us players know that there are people who have the knowledge to do that.
“We’ve got John [Murtough, United director of football] who signed me and brought me here, so I have complete faith in him, along with his staff and the manager. It’s always the club that has the final say and it’s not us players who need to be putting our noses into this.
“But the more top players you have the better, because we know that with lots of quality players, there’s competition for places and that means you get to the end of the season in better shape.”

Manchester United have reportedly made an official approach to Chelsea over the signing of Mason Mount.
talkSPORT understands the England star has already agreed personal terms with the Red Devils.
However, the two Premier League clubs are yet to enter negotiations over a transfer fee.
Now, according to Sky Sports News, United have formally contacted Chelsea to begin talks for the 24-year-old midfielder.
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag says the chance to stop Manchester City’s treble charge provides no extra motivation heading into the FA Cup final.
The eyes of the footballing world will be on Wembley on Saturday afternoon for the first-ever all-Manchester cup final.
United head to the capital looking to end a promising first season under Ten Hag by winning both domestic cups in the same campaign for the first time.
Neighbours City already have the Premier League title under their belt and are looking to lift the FA Cup a week before heading to Istanbul to take on Inter Milan in the Champions League final.
Lifting both of those trophies would see Pep Guardiola’s men join Sir Alex Ferguson’s 1999 treble heroes as the only English sides to achieve the feat – something United supporters are desperate to stop.
“I know what is the thinking from the fans,” Ten Hag said. “But what we want is to restore Manchester United by winning trophies.
“So, on Saturday we have an opportunity to win a trophy and we don’t want to be distracted by anything.
“If it’s important for the fans then it’s important for us, so we will give everything to win the cup.”
Bruno Fernandes believes Manchester United are building something special under Erik ten Hag.
The meticulous Dutchman has helped drag the Old Trafford giants up from a low ebb, leading them back into the Champions League having won the Carabao Cup in his first season at the helm.
Ten Hag now has the chance to end a positive campaign by completing a domestic cup double with a statement victory at Wembley, where United take on treble-chasing Manchester City on Saturday.
The first all-Manchester FA Cup final promises to be a special occasion and one that Fernandes, set to skipper the side, believes can provide the catalyst for further success.
“It is important for us, even to build,” the Portugal international told the PA news agency. “We are now building something we see can be special in the future.
“Obviously I think if we win the FA Cup, it will give a little bit more belief that we can go into the next season and aim for bigger targets.”
Fernandes, who signed a new deal at United towards the end of last season, said: “I want to win trophies at the club.
“I spoke with the club before I signed that contract and said ‘I want to be successful with the club, but I need to make sure the club is going to be the right things and do things in a successful way’.
“I think those steps are being done. We still need some things and I think we will have that. Not only with transfers but also in the dressing room with us stepping up more in moments that we needed it this season, but we didn’t.
“Next season we will have learned so we need to do it better.”
That’s all from today’s coverage of Manchester United’s transfer moves.
Tomorrow attention turns to their FA Cup final against Manchester City, where they look to stop their rivals matching the historic 1999 treble.
Erik ten Hag has refused to be drawn on questions about Wout Weghorst’s future.
The Manchester United manager was asked if the FA Cup final could be the last game for the on-loan Burnley forward.
“I don’t know,” he replied. “You can’t say that in this moment, I’m not at this moment into transfer politics.”
Marcus Rashford has been speaking about his personal development under Erik ten Hag.
He said: “I think as a number nine I’m playing much better now. I used to feel like on the left I’ve always got goals in me and I can create an opportunity on the left and then sometimes when I’m in the middle, I feel like I’m trying too hard to get on the ball.
“When you’re a striker, patience is probably the biggest skill. I’ve always had the hunger to score, but this is what I needed to get right about playing as a number nine because this is what used to frustrate me the most – I don’t mind missing chances, I’d rather miss a chance than not get a chance.
“Sometimes when I was a number nine, I’d be just too impatient. I’d be trying to get on the ball because I’ve not seen much of the ball. Then the ball would go wide and I’d know where I need to be in the box, but I’m one second late and then it would just frustrate me.
“A lot of work has been put into just hold your positions, play a bit more with the defenders.”
Manchester United remain in the race to sign West Ham captain Declan Rice.
According to the Daily Mail, the Red Devils are working with a limited transfer kitty this summer and a large portion of their budget has already been set aside for Chelsea’s Mason Mount.
But the report adds that United would consider using players in part-exchange as part of their interest in Mount’s England teammate Rice.
Hammers boss David Moyes has been linked with an interest in Scottish compatriot Scott McTominay, whose current deal expires next summer.
Ten Hag says the FA Cup final will be a good test against rivals City.
United fans are desperate for their side to extinguish the Premier League champions’ treble dreams as Pep Guardiola’s men look to replicate Sir Alex Ferguson’s 1999 treble heroes.
“We want to win, we want to win a cup,” Ten Hag said. “It’s not about stopping them. It is about that we win, that we win the cup. We have a great opportunity.
“That’s great that we deserved that opportunity to be in the cup final and then meet Man City. That’s a great opportunity.
“We fought so hard for it. I think we progressed that well that we are in that FA Cup final.”
Eric Cantona claimed he would rather discuss Pep Guardiola rather than the ongoing takeover at his former club Manchester United.
He told The Guardian he would prefer to avoid those questions. “Don’t speak about that,” Cantona said.
“No. I prefer to speak to you about [Pep] Guardiola, the positive things in football, than to speak about this kind of thing. It’s not a day for it today.”
Pep Guardiola reserved high praise for Manchester United star Casemiro.
The Man City boss said: “I don’t know him but I have info when he was in Madrid, how professional he was, the quality he has.
“I was convinced he wasn’t coming here just for holidays or the last years of his career.
“When you’ve won four or five Champions Leagues with Real Madrid it’s because you are special player. Otherwise you cannot be there for a long time.
“A final is special but what Manchester [United] are doing in last four five months, they are a completely different team to the one we played in the beginning of the season when we beat them here (6-3 at the Etihad).. They were much better when we played there (at Old Trafford) and lost, we played good but it’s football.
“Now I have the feeling that they’ve improved since the beginning of the season. That is the reality. The patterns are more clear, the quality they have. It’s United.
“The many years we’re here we’ve done really well against them but it’s United, the quality of the players has always been there with Mourinho and other managers, always they were good.”
Wout Weghorst has admitted that he is unhappy with the fact that he’s managed just two goals since arriving at Manchester United.
Weghorst said: “I’ve really tried to give my all in every match I’ve played, in every minute I’ve had.
“It doesn’t matter which position it is. I always give my best.
“Of course, for me as a striker, only two goals is not enough. It’s not good.
“That’s just the only thing for me that’s disappointing, because I know I’m capable to do it.
I scored a lot in the past, but all the other parts of the football contribution, in helping with the team pressure and work ethic, link-up play.
“I think I’ve developed myself there again and I could help the team and be important for them.
“Let’s keep the goal for Saturday. Let’s do it that way.”
Christian Eriksen has told talkSPORT that he wants Manchester United to embrace the club’s history of winning trophies ahead of the FA Cup final.
When asked how it would feel to leave the club with more trophies on his list of accolades, he said: “The history of the club is silverware.
“They built that up for a long time, winning, winning, winning, and obviously it’s something that you have to do otherwise it’s not a success.
“It’ll be nice whatever happens after, legacy of winning a lot of trophies definitely.”
Manchester United have been hit by a setback for Antony ahead of the FA Cup final.
“Unlikely (he will be fit),” he said. “Dos Santos (Antony) still has a chance but it’s a really small chance.
“He didn’t make the progress, so he still has a chance but unlikely he is available.”
Andy Cole has claimed Mason Mount won’t improve Manchester United.
Cole was speaking on behalf of BoyleSports about FA Cup Odds: “I know there’s talk of Mason Mount, he’s a decent player who works hard and puts a shift in.
“But Manchester United need someone with that ‘X factor’ and has flair. Someone like Jude Bellingham who drives the team forward.
“None of those Chelsea players improve Manchester United. They can’t be any worse next season otherwise they’ll be in big trouble.”
Manchester United legends Roy Keane and Gary Neville both feel that the club need to replace goalkeeper David de Gea.
He told The Overlap: “They do need to get rid of him either now or if they’ve not got the money then obviously a year later is the maximum. I don’t know how much money is there, so they might not be able to replace De Gea and, say, buy Harry Kane – if they were looking to do that – in one hit.
“So they might say, ‘OK, we’ll have to cope with him for another year because we don’t want to spend £50m-£70m on a goalkeeper because we want to get Harry Kane and another player’ and then next year they do that [replace De Gea].
“But I agree with Roy [Keane], a goalkeeper is everything to a league [title], you have to have a brilliant goalkeeper, you have to have an unbelievable goalkeeper.”
Former Manchester United star Jesse Lingard has been released by Nottingham Forest.
Lingard joined the Tricky Trees on a one-year deal after leaving Old Trafford and became their highest earner following the 232 appearances he made for United.
But a mixture of poor form and injuries meant the England international managed just 17 Premier League outings and zero goals for Forest as they survived the drop.
Former Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed he will stay in the Saudi football league.
He told the SPL: “The league is very good.
“But I think we have many, many opportunities to still grow. The league is competitive. We have very good teams, very good Arab players, but they need to improve the infrastructure a little bit more.
“Even the referees, the VAR system, should be a little quicker. I think other small things they need to improve.
“But I am happy here, I want to continue here, I will continue here. And in my opinion if they continue to do the work that they want to do here, for the next five years, I think the Saudi league can be a top five league in the world.”
Raphael Varane has refuted suggestions he should fear Erling Haaland this weekend.
“Why?” asks the Frenchman in response to the Daily Mail.
“Every game is a challenge and I like to challenge myself, to challenge other teams as a group too.
“The most important thing is to believe. It doesn’t matter if it is a team in good or bad form; the challenge is in front of us and we have to accept it and find a way to win.
“I think we know we are able to beat any team.”
Harry Maguire has explained why Manchester United can fancy their chances against Manchester City in the FA Cup final this weekend.
“The fans have been right with us throughout the season and I think they’ve been really important to the success that we’ve had and the positive results that we’ve had,” he told club media.
“I think we’ve seen at Old Trafford, our results have been amazing so we know at Wembley they’re going to be there, they’re going to be loud and it’s a day that we hope we can do them proud.
“The fans at this club are a huge part of the club, they’re right behind the team, you can feel the energy and the intensity that they bring to the matches as well.
“I think obviously last season was such a disappointing year for us all, as players and staff, as fans, just as a club in general, so to bounce back in such a positive manner, I think it’s really, really impressive.
“Experience is a huge thing in football, being there and playing in these big matches, these big pressure moments, it’s really important to have that experience on your side.
“I think across our team now, if you look at our team, we’ve got lads who have won big trophies and lots who have played in a lot of finals, so it’s a good balance of the squad. We’re ready to give it everything.”
Raphael Varane has opened up on how his experience at Real Madrid taught him how to stop a team led by Pep Guardiola.
The Manchester United defender told MEN: “I really enjoy playing here for Man United, playing in England and feeling good with my teammates, having a good connection with the fans,” he said.
“I think the similarities [with Barcelona in 2011] are Pep and the style of play from City, but it’s different. I don’t think it’s the same thing but I learned a lot from that period in Madrid.”
Gary Neville has urged Erik ten Hag to start forgotten man Fred against Manchester City.
“I don’t want Manchester United to play with Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes, and Christian Eriksen in midfield,” claimed the former defender on the latest episode of The Overlap.
“The game where they won, it was Fred with Casemiro. I just don’t see how City won’t run amok if it’s Casemiro, Eriksen and Fernandes.
“I feel not having that little bit of something to break the play up [could be key]. When he won the game at Old Trafford, I think he played with Fred and Casemiro, with Eriksen in front. Then they had [Marcus] Rashford, [Anthony] Martial and Fernandes to the right.
“The reason I think that works is because City don’t have a left-back going forward and Bruno can tuck in there which means they almost have four in the middle.
“Closing that off and letting City’s left-back have it – who that’s going to be, [Manuel] Akanji or [Nathan] Ake?”
Alejandro Garnacho has left Manchester United coaches ‘pleasantly surprised’ by his work ethic during his time injured.
The 18-year-old was sidelined for a period with an ankle issue he sustained in March but returned before the end of the Premier League season and is now hoping to feature in the FA Cup final.
A report from The Athletic has claimed how Garnacho shattered doctors expectations that he wouldn’t be fit enough to return before the end of the campaign with his application to his recovery.
The Argentine is said to have went into Carrington on his days off for extra work and understood United’s decision not to allow him to go to the Under-20 World Cup.
Hello and welcome back to talkSPORT’s Man United blog. Our top stories this morning…
United could offer captain Harry Maguire as makeweight in a deal to sign Mason Mount from Chelsea, according to the latest reports.
talkSPORT understands Mount has agreed personal terms with United but the Red Devils are yet to agree a fee with their Premier League rivals.
Chelsea value the 24-year-old midfielder at around £70million and The Sun claims England defender Maguire could be offered as part of the deal.
United are said to consider Maguire’s worth to be around £30m.
Elsewhere, Phil Neville has been sacked as manager of Inter Miami, who are co-owned by former Manchester United teammate David Beckham, it has been announced.
“When we appointed Phil we knew he would give Inter Miami his all and I have watched him work incredibly hard and with real commitment towards the ambitions we set out for the club,” Beckham said.
“He and his family embraced Miami and he has devoted himself to the drive to bring success to the city and to our fans.
“”Phil has made a real contribution to the culture of our club with his qualities as a leader and knowledge as a coach.
“Sometimes in this game we have to make the toughest decisions and sadly we feel the time is right to make a change. I want to personally thank Phil for his hard work, his passion for our club and for his integrity as a person.”
