Properties of Mukhtar’s close aide attached

Varanasi: Immovable properties of jailed mafia don Mukhtar Ansari’s close aide Angad Rai alias Jhullan Rai purchased in the name of his two minor sons in Dhaphi area of Varanasi were attached by Ghazipur police on Thursday night. Value of attached properties were assessed as Rs 4.58 crore.
Regarding this action, SP Ghazipur Omvir Singh said that under the on-going drive to destroy the economic empire of gangsters many properties purchased with illegally earned money by Mukhtar and his gang members either in their own name or in the name of their relatives and close aides are being detected.
During the same driver it was found that Rai had got some plots in the name of his two minor sons making his wife Sarita Rai as their guardian in Dhaphi area of Varanasi. Value of this property was estimated as Rs 4,58,15,880. After collecting all the details a report was sent to the DM, he said.
The DM ordered to confiscate these properties under Gangster Act, he said adding the same order was executed by a team of Ghazipur police by visiting Dhaphi area in Varanasi on Thursday night.
Angad is currently lodged in jail and a cash reward if Rs 50,000 had been announced by police on him in past, police said adding, a total of 22 criminal cases are lodged against him.
