Varanasi: UP Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) chairman M Devraj asked Purvanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited officials to ensure a tripping-free world-class power supply system and 24-hour uninterrupted supply in each part of the Varanasi district.
While reviewing power supply arrangements and revenue collection of PVVNL at its headquarters here on Friday, Devraj said that as per the expectations of Prime Minister
Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and UP energy minister AK Sharma, a world-class and model power distribution system should be made available in Varanasi.
“Tourists visit Varanasi not only from across the globe,” he said, adding, “It is one of the biggest centres of pilgrimage and tourism hence the arrangements should be made as per its stature.”
He said that UPPCL will extend all support to bring further improvement in the power supply system in order to make it free from tripping. He asked the officials to ensure 24-hour uninterrupted power supply in each part of the district. He also directed to end overloading of transformers by increasing their capacity and keeping transformers and trolley transformers reserved to be used as standby.
Devraj warned of stern action in case of detection of corrupt practices and asked to facilitate the consumers. He asked to put effective checks on power pilferage, initiate action against linemen and junior engineers concerned in case of detection of power supply restored at any place following disconnection against non-clearance of due. He asked to intensify surprise raids to check line losses and pilferage.
