THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In view of governor Arif Mohammed Khan's refusal to select a candidate from the panel submitted by the government, the higher education department submitted a fresh panel of academics to be considered as the interim vice-chancellor of MG University.
The governor had refused to consider the first panel as the name of former MGU VC Sabu Thomas, who had retired from service early this week, was also included in the list. Though the government had recommended another term for Thomas, the governor refused to accept the same and asked the government to submit a panel of experts capable and eligible to hold the interim charge of MGU VC.
In the new panel, physics professor Sudarsan Kumar has replaced Thomas. Other members in the earlier panel Aravind Kumar and Jayachandran have found place in the revised panel as well.
A decision on VC in-change would be taken only after the governor is back in the capital. tnn
