Ludhiana: Three students from Ludhiana have achieved international ranks in the Science Olympiad Foundation(SOF) exam 2022-23.
Ishaan Gupta, a student of Class 11 of Police DAV Public School, bagged international commerce Olympiad rank 2 and won Rs 37,500, a silver medal and a merit certificate. Namish Sobti of Class 3 of Manav Rachna International School secured international science olympiad rank 3 and won a bronze medal along with a merit certificate; whereas Gehnna Nagpal of Class 12 of BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School got international commerce olympiad rank 4, received a merit certificate.
Around 60 lakh students from 70 countries participated in the SOF Olympiad exam. More than 60,000 students from Ludhiana took part. Schools such as Sat Paul Mittal School, DAV Public School, Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School, BCM Arya Model School, were among the participants.
The SOF conducted an awards ceremony in Delhi to honour and present awards to the Olympiad exam winners, teachers, and principals. The top three SOF worldwide rank winners from classes 1 to 12, who participated in seven Olympiad exams were recognised during the ceremony.
During the event, 66 international rank 1 winners received Rs 50,000, in addition to a gold medal and a merit certificate; 66 international rank 2 winners received Rs 25,000, along with a silver medal and a merit certificates, and 66 international rank 3 holders was given Rs 10,000, along with a bronze medal, and a merit certificate. From the 70 participating countries, the top 25 principals and top 60 instructors, whose students excelled at the worldwide level, were also honoured with cash prizes, souvenirs, and citations.
