Man dies of ‘drug overdose’, 5 booked
Ludhiana: Sidhwan Bet police have booked five members of a family after a drug addict died after allegedly consuming some “chemical” drug he bought from them.
The accused were identified Sona Singh, his wife Jyoti Kaur, sister-in-law Jaswinder Kaur, mother Charanjit Kaur and brother-in-law Jagtar Singh, all belonging to Sherewal village in Sidhwan Bet area.
In her complaint, Rano Bai (46) of Chak Kaniyan Kalan in Dharamkot of Moga said her elder son Jaswinder Singh Bittu (24) was hooked to drugs and would often go to the accused to buy ‘chitta’ (heroin) from them.
On May 30 evening, Jaswinder left home on a motorcycle to get drugs from the accused. The complainant said at 9 pm, she got information that her son had fallen down in the motor room of a person. She said Jaswinder died on the way to a government hospital in Jagraon.
Cops from Sidhwan Bet police station reached the spot and started a probe into the matter. Cops later booked the accused persons under Section 304 (Culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the IPC.
ASI Rajvarinderpal Singh, investigating officer, said the accused persons are on the run and raids are being conducted to arrest them. He said husband of Jaswinder Kaur is in jail in a drugs related case. tnn
