Jaipur: The health department has initiated discussion with private hospitals for framing rules of the Right to Health (RTH) Act.
The Indian Medical Association (IMA) state branch has already submitted some of its suggestions on proposed rules for RTH.
“Two meetings have already taken place with the government, and it is an ongoing process. More meetings are proposed. In the meetings, we have taken up issues of definition of emergency and, also, in different situations how a patient should be shifted to another hospital, who will operate the ambulances for their transportation, in case of no bed availability in a hospital where the patient needs to be shifted, what can be done. Such issues have been taken up by us,” said Dr Sunil Chugh, president, IMA (Rajasthan branch).
The private hospitals and doctors are ensuring that the rules will be framed for RTH Act fulfilling the conditions of MoU signed by the private hospitals and the state government on April 4 to end the 17-day long strike protesting against RTH Act. IMA is also discussing in detail the role of doctors and private hospitals under the RTH Act. TNN
