Kanpur: The police have filed a charge sheet in the court against five accused, including SP MLA Irfan Solanki and his brother Rizwan Solanki, in a case registered under the Gangsters Act. All these five accused are presently lodged in jail.
One Nazir Fatima, a resident of Jajmau, had filed a report against the MLA accusing him and others of indulging in arson with an intention to grab her plot. After this, all the five accused were sent to jail.
Later, a case was registered against him for issuing a certificate of Indian citizenship to a Bangladeshi national, besides travelling by air on a fake Aadhaar card, land grab besides Gangsters Act.
Thereafter, the SP MLA was shifted to Maharajganj Jail due to administrative reasons.
In December 2022, the police had booked Irfan, Rizwan, Israel Atte Wala, Mohammad Sharif and Shaukat Ali under section 3 (1)
Uttar Pradesh Gangster Act and Prevention of Anti-Social Activities Act 1986. SP MLA has been made a gang leader.
Joint commissioner of police (JCP) Anand Prakash Tiwari on Thursday said that all the five accused are currently lodged in jail. Their properties worth crores have been confiscated under Section 14-A of the Gangster Act. A charge sheet has been filed against them in the court.
