NEW DELHI: BJP Wednesday accused
Rahul Gandhi of “spreading a market of pessimism, hate and distrust” against India’s development journey as it cited the robust 7.2% annual economic growth of the country to target the Congress leader.
At a press conference, senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said Gandhi’s claim of spreading the message of love is merely an excuse for him as his priority is to spread hate against India’s development under PM
Narendra Modi’s leadership. “The GDP figure has exposed the lies of your market of hate,” he said.
Prasad cited an interaction between Rahul and former RBI governor, an apparent reference to Raghuram Rajan, to note that the opposition leader had claimed that India’s exports were slowing down and the country would be lucky to have 5% growth. “Every prediction of the sponsored expert has proved wrong,” he claimed, dubbing Rahul as an extraordinary expert who has an opinion on every issue.
Slamming Rahul for his statement in the US that PM Modi was creating hype around symbols like the ‘sengol’ in order to divert attention from falling GDP numbers and unemployment, labour and employment minister Bhupender Yadav said the installation of sengol in Parliament was a symbol of the Indian way of life, and significant because it reflected how India has preserved traditional values.
“If an object can serve as a symbol of just governance, installing it in our Parliament to let it serve as a way of life is a good move and the duty of any government,” Yadav told Times Network India Economic Conclave.
Prasad said India has achieved a record export of $770 billion while its inflation at 4.7% is the lowest among large economies. He accused him of indulging in “open public display of lack of faith in Indian's development story”.
