3.4kg gold theft: Accused flees to Delhi
Ludhiana: In the latest development in the 3.4kg gold theft case, the police have found CCTV footage of accused Rohit Verma boarding a bus to Delhi.
After parking his employer’s car near Kailash Nagar on GT Road, the accused took a lift from a biker to go to the Sherpur area, where he changed his clothes at a private bus service office and then, boarded a bus to Delhi. Following this, a team of Ludhiana police went to Delhi, but, failed to find any clue regarding his whereabouts.
Accused Rohit Verma of Raikot was hired by jeweller Rakesh Kumar of VR Gold, Sarafa Bazaar.
ACP north Maninder Bedi, said, “In the first CCTV footage, the accused is seen riding pillion on a bike near Jodhewal Chowk. The other footage is that of him at the private bus service office near Sherpur, where he changed his clothes and took a bus to Delhi.”
Bedi added, “The police will nab him soon.” An FIR under Section 408 of the IPC was lodged at Jodhewal police station. tnn
