Monsoon likely to keep date with Gujarat
The IMD forecast mentioned the likelihood of rainfall in Banaskantha and Sabarkantha on Friday, Banaskan-tha, Sabarkantha, Surat, Valsad and Navsari on Saturday, and Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Patan and Mehsana on Monday.
AHMEDABAD: With the southwest monsoon now near Sri Lanka, the forecast on June 1 indicates that the monsoon is likely to touch the Kerala coast on June 1, reach Mumbai by June 10, and South Gujarat by June 15. The monsoon is likely to reach Ahmedabad by June 20, and cover the entire state by June 30 under normal circumstances. Experts, however, believe the monsoon may be delayed by a few days this year. The India meteorological department (IMD) has forecast normal or below normal rain for Gujarat this year.
The IMD forecast mentioned the likelihood of rainfall in Banaskantha and Sabarkantha on Friday, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Surat, Valsad and Navsari on Saturday, and Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Patan and Mehsana on Monday. There are likely to be strong surface winds of 30-40kmph on all four days.
Due to a western disturbance and cyclonic circulation over southwestern Rajasthan, the maximum temperature in the city on Thursday was 40.9°C, which was 0.1 degrees higher than normal. The minimum temperature at 27°C was 0.7 degrees lower than normal. On Friday, the maximum temperature is likely to be around 41°C, according to the forecast.
VV Nagar at 42.7°C was the hottest weather station on Monday, followed by 41.2°C in Vadodara, and 41°C in Amreli.
