RMC inaugurates 5 urban health centres
Ranchi: The Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) inaugurated five urban health and wellness centres on Thursday as part of its mission to set up 24 such centres in the state capital to offer free treatment and medicines to the locals. The centres are recommended and funded by the 15th finance commission.
RMC commissioner Shashi Ranjan said, “Five health and wellness centres were inaugurated in the first phase. The remaining 19 centres will be opened soon. A total of 24 locations have been identified to provide treatment for common diseases to the general public. In each centre, one will have access to all essential health-related amenities. The move will help in reducing the rush at the state-run hospitals like Rims and sadar to some extent.”
The services provided by centres will include child care, childhood and adolescent healthcare, family planning and provision of contraceptives, other reproductive healthcare services, management of communicable diseases, outpatient care for acute simple illnesses and minor ailments; detection, prevention, control and management of non-communicable diseases, care for common ophthalmic, and ear, nose, and throat problems.
“These centres will remain open for eight hours. They will function as a standard outdoor patients’ department and offer free medication for common health issues,” an official said.
