BMC to introduce uniforms for sanitary inspectors
Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to introduce uniforms for all its sanitary inspectors working across the city’s 67 municipal wards.
As per the BMC’s plan, all the inspectors will get custom-made t-shirts, trousers, jackets, caps and formal shoes. The civic body has invited agencies with expertise in the field to design and supply the uniforms.
“We had already introduced jackets and shoes for all the ground level sanitation workers and this time, we have decided to provide proper uniforms to our sanitary inspectors,” BMC’s deputy commissioner (sanitation) Manoranjan Sahu said.
The BMC has been periodically providing different types of gadgets to empower its sanitary inspectors, he added.
Over time, the civic body has shifted its focus towards sanitation and has been organising regular awareness programmes on source segregation of waste and carrying out two time sweeping and other types of cleanliness activities in the city.
The civic body is also imposing penalties on those littering in the public and not adhering to other solid waste management rules.
