Cops baton-charge students protesting against YBN univ
Ranchi: Police resorted to lathi charge on Wednesday evening to disperse bachelor of pharma (B Pharma) students who staged an agitation at their examination centre at YBN University Namkum while accusing the institution of allowing cheating to selected students.
Police said eleven students have been detained, adding a case would be registered against them.
Notably, the YBN University was examination centre of B Pharma colleges across the state.
Talking to media a candidate alleged that after the examination, students saw a few examinees sitting in a separate room on the ground floor and taking the examination. He said soon a large number of examinees got agitated on the issue.
As the students resorted to stone pelting and damaged the university’s assets, the Namkum police arrived at the spot and used force to chase away the students.
ASP M numal Rajpurohit said, “Since the mob was aggressive police had to use force. As per information provided to us the candidates sitting in separate rooms were pregnant ladies and physically challenged persons. Their questions were distributed late so they were given extras 20 minutes. There is video footage in this regard. The other students, however, failed to understand it.”
