MOIL official booked for fraud, malpractices

Nagpur: A senior official of Manganese Ore India limited (MOIL) has been booked by the CBI for duping the public sector entity by diverting funds and making purchases for the two companies floated in the name of his wife.
Large sums were detected in his wife’s accounts by the premier investigating agency. The accused used his official powers to influence decisions. Red flags were raised regarding the approval of bills, budgetary sanctions and signatures.
The central vigilance had also conducted an inquiry before referring the case to the CBI. Unaccounted properties and assets owned by the MOIL official were also found.
12 guests, resort manager booked
Around 12 guests and the manager of a luxurious forest resort at Teerkhura were booked by rural cops after a raiding team saw obscene dancing being conducted at the banquet hall.
It’s learnt the local crime branch cops reached the place when the guests were seeing women dancing and making obscene gestures. Rs 1.3 lakh, laptops and sound systems were seized during the raid.
Burglars decamp with valuables
Unidentied burglars decamped with valuables worth nearly ₹4 lakh from the residence of Ajani family at Gondwana Chowk between May 23 and May 29. The burglars also drove away with their car.
The Ajanis were on a vacation keeping their house locked and car parked in front of their house. The burglars are likely to have entered the house by breaking open the rear door lock and latch. An offence was registered at Sadar police station.
Valuables worth ₹5 lakh burgled
Unidentied burglars decamped with valuables worth ₹5 lakh, including cash ₹4 lakh, from the residence of the Shaikh family in Yadav Nagar on Tuesday, said the police.
The family had gone out when the burglars broke the front door lock and latch to enter the house before fleeing with the valuables.
An offence was registered at Yashodhara Nagar police station. Further investigation is under way.
