Ludhiana: An alleged thief barged into a house in Talwandi village of Ladhowal area amid heavy
rain in the early hours on Wednesday and fired twice at the pet dog and injured the house owner after the family woke up on hearing the canine barking. The miscreant escaped after pushing away the family’s neighbours.
The dog received a bullet injury and was taken to Gadvasu hospital where doctors took out the bullet. The house owner, Balwinder Singh, suffered a injury on his eye as the accused hit him with the revolver butt.
Talwandi sarpanch Manjit Singh said, “It was around 3am when Balwinder Singh’s daughter heard noise of the terrace door opening. In the meantime, the pet dog of the family noticed a man inside the house and started barking at him. Soon, the accused fired a gunshot targeting the dog. The entire family woke up hearing the gunshot, but couldn’t spot anything as it was dark due to a power cut.”
“On hearing the cries of the family, the neighbours woke up. Balwinder’s daughter opened the gate to let the neighbours come in, but the accused fled outside seeing the gate open. Though neighbours tried to nab him, the accused escaped from the field area, leaving his
sports bike, a revolver and a bag at the house,” the sarpanch added.
