Woman claims rape, forced conversion; cop, kin booked
MEERUT: Following a complaint by a woman in her 30s who had alleged she was "raped, forced to convert and then marry a Delhi police head constable", the cop and six members of his family, including his parents, have been booked by the Uttar Pradesh police, reports Rahul Singh.
The woman, the daughter of an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) in Delhi police, who is currently living in Hapur, said she was invited to the cop's home where they offered her 'seviyan' laced with sedatives, after which he raped her, forced her to change her faith and married her in front of a maulavi on December 28, 2012. The victim alleged over the years, the man, with whom she had a son in 2015, continued to rape her and his brother violated her too.
"I have been traumatised by the family, which on many occasions attempted to kill me," she said. "I got the courage to file a complaint now as I fear for my child's safety."
