YAMUNANAGAR: The Ambala unit of Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested two clerks of the education department allegedly for taking bribe of Rs 55,000 on Thursday.
The arrested accused clerks were identified as Raj Kumar and Harish Kumar (caught red-handed).
As per the information, Mahender Singh, a retired principal of a school at Chhapra village in Ambala district, complained to the ACB that the accused clerks had sought bribe from him in lieu of releasing his pending assured career progression (ACP) arrears with the education department.
Acting on the complaint, the ACB laid a trap and arrested two accused clerks.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered against both the accused under Section 7 and 7 (A) of the Prevention of Corruption Act and 384 (extortion) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at ACB, Ambala police station on Thursday.
The ACB sources said Harish was caught red-handed.
