    GAIL shares up 0.57% as Nifty gains

    NEW DELHI: Shares of GAIL (India) Ltd. traded 0.57 per cent up in Thursday's trade at 11:54AM (IST). Around 266,459 shares changed hands on the counter.

    The counter opened at Rs 104.85 and touched an intraday high and low of Rs 105.85 and Rs 103.45, respectively, in the session so far. Shares of the company of GAIL (India) Ltd. quoted a 52-week high of Rs 113.95 and a 52-week low of Rs 83.0.

    As per BSE, the total market cap of the GAIL (India) Ltd. stood at Rs 69334.43 crore at the time of writing this report.

    Key Financials
    The company reported consolidated sales of Rs 33753.23 crore for the quarter ended 31-Mar-2023, down 7.1 per cent from previous quarter's Rs 36334.2 crore and down 22.04 per cent from the year-ago quarter's Rs 27657.93 crore.

    The net profit for latest quarter stood at Rs 634.18 crore, down 81.64 per cent from the corresponding quarter last year.

    Shareholding pattern
    As of 31-Mar-2023, DIIs held 8.38 per cent stake in the company, while foreign institutional investors held 16.28 per cent and the promoters 51.52 per cent.


    Valuation ratio
    According to BSE data, the stock traded at a price-to-earnings multiple of 12.35 and a price-to-book ratio of 1.07. A higher P/E ratio shows investors are willing to pay a higher price because of better future growth expectations. Price-to-book value indicates the inherent value of a company and is the measure of the price that investors are ready to pay even for no growth in the business.
