Man stabs youth for not helping him buy petrol
Thiruvananthapuram: Varkala police arrested a 32-year-old man for stabbing a youth and manhandling his friend late at Tuesday night near Beach Road for not helping him to buy petrol.
The arrested has been identified by police as Asim, 32, son of Sharafuddin of Ilayil Veedu near Court Moola at Varkala.
After the fuel tank of his two-wheeler went empty, Asim was waiting for someone near Arabian Choola to help him buy petrol.
As Kailas Nath and his friend Akhil Sajeev were passing by at that time, Asim asked them to stop for help.
However, the duo was in a hurry, and they tried to leave.
Annoyed by it, Asim verbally abused them, which led to an altercation, during which Asim manhandled Akhil and stabbed Kailas on the head with a knife. Kailas and Akhil suffered serious injuries and were rushed to Varkala taluk hospital by people in the vicinity. After the condition of Kailas turned critical, he was shifted to Medical College Hospital later.
Varkala police have registered a case against the accused under sections of IPC 307 for attempt to murder, 323 for causing hurt, 341 for wrongful restraint and 294 (b) for abusing. The accused has been remanded after producing before a court. “The accused was under the influence of alcohol and we are examining his background to find whether he was involved in any criminal activities before,” said police.
