KOLKATA: A gym trainer in his early 20s bit a policeman, broke two television sets and two wooden chairs, threw paper weights and pen stands inside Bidhannagar north police station on Sunday night. Earlier on the same day, cops had stopped him along with two others for triple riding and speeding on a bike during a naka check at Salt Lake's BF Block.
Cops claimed he was intoxicated and had abused officers. The youths outburst was after the police took him to a hospital to conduct a medical check. Cops said the youth attacked on-duty policemen as well. They said it took multiple cops to calm him down. "After the medical check, he became violent and bit an officer. Officers took him to the station where he created a ruckus for half an hour. A case has been initiated."
Police said, during the naka drive on Sunday, three riders on a bike went past them without stopping at the checkpoint. A sub inspector chased them and stopped them outside a guest house. The youth began abusing the officer and an altercation ensued. He was charged with IPC sections 353, 333, 186 and 3 PDPP Act. He was produced before a Salt Lake court that sent him to judicial custody for 14 days.
